Services
The W.A. Rankin Library has several reading sections for patrons. We also have a full line of reference books to help students of all age levels.
In addition to having books, patrons can also check out audio books, DVDs for adults and children, and magazines. Books are checked out for 2 weeks at a time with an 8 book limit; and only two of those may be new, (6 months old or less). Audio books are checked out for 14 days at a time with a limit of 6 per household. DVDs are checked out for 7 days at a time with a limit of 5 at a time. Children are not allowed to check out DVDs or CDs.
A complete genealogy section is also for public use. Our genealogy section begins with 1864 marriages. To complete that time period we have census records from 1875 and estate records from 1866-1912. We have newspaper obituaries from A to Z. The Guilford Citizen, all Neodesha newspapers throughout the years and the Altoona newspapers are all on microfilm. An index for the Neodesha Cometary and the Altoona Cemetery is on file.
Come to the library and while away the time reading or working on the jigsaw puzzle that is always in progress.

Please bring the fax number and extension number (if applicable) with you.
There is a $1.00 fee per page.
Computers
W. A. Rankin Memorial Library offers more than just books to the community. We have nine computers for the patrons to use. Six of the computers have blocks on them so that children can use the internet. Plus, a computer just for children to play games on, located in the children’s section.
Children 10 years old or younger need to be accompanied by an adult.
Account must be in good standing to have access to computers.
There is a 60 minute time limit on the computers.
Non-card holders may use the computers under a guest account set up by the staff.
Computers are shut off 15 minutes prior to closing.
Library Card
To acquire a library card you will need:
- Proof of residency
- a valid Kansas driver’s license
- mail addressed to the applicant at a current address.
- Name, address and number of a reference
Limit of 2 items for the first 30 days, then a patron may check out:
8 books for 2 weeks
5 DVDs for one week
6 CDs for two weeks
2 Antique books for two weeks
6 magazines for one week
Lamination
$1.00 per item (Smaller than a letter)
$2.00 per item (letter size)
$3.00 per item (Larger than letter size)
Flash Drives
$2.00 each. They are new, but no guarantees.
Friends of the Library Book Store
Adults and Children’s hardback books: $.25 each or 5 for $1.00.
Paperback Books: $.10 each or 11 for $1.00
DVDs and Audio Books: $1.00 each
Puzzles: $.50 each
Magazines: free
Yearbooks: $5.00
Conference Room
Our conference room can be rented for $40 per day with a $40 deposit.
